Participant guide
FAQ
Answers to the most common questions about participation, production, voting, songs, and contest rules.
1How can I participate in the contest?
The start of each new season is announced on the contest social media pages and on the main page of the website. If submissions are open, you simply need to complete the participation form.
The submission form always includes: • participating city; • song; • artist or group name; • screenshot or render of the participant’s appearance.
2The contest rules intimidate me
The rules have been developed and expanded throughout many years of the contest’s existence, primarily to regulate disputed situations. Participants are not expected to perfectly understand every rule.
The key points are always duplicated in the participation agreement, and the organizers are always ready to clarify any part of the rules in detail if needed.
3I do not know how to film videos, but I still want to participate
During the preparation period, the organizers support participants and help them understand basic production principles and technical issues.
The website also features a Tutorials section containing useful information about filming, editing, animation, and contest video production.
4Can I commission content for my performance or participant promotion from another person?
Yes. Participants may commission animations, Sims, objects, outfits, artwork, and other supporting content.
However, the filming and editing of the final contest video must be completed by the participant themselves.
Sending finished files for cloud or network rendering is allowed, but third parties are not permitted to alter the final performance itself.
5What if I do not know how to create animations?
Creating custom animations is not required. Many participants successfully use standard or ready-made animation solutions and still achieve strong results.
6Can I create my performance in Blender 3D, Unreal Engine, or Cinema 4D?
Yes. The rules allow performances to be created both directly in-game and in any 3D graphics software, including Blender, Unreal Engine, and Cinema 4D.
7How can I vote in the contest?
Voting opens immediately after the performances and the contest show are published. Voting deadlines are announced separately by the organizers for each season.
8What kind of song can I choose?
Songs of any genre and language are allowed.
Before submitting your application, please make sure: • the song has not previously been used in the contest (you can check this in the Song Selection section); • the song complies with the contest rules and PG-16 age rating; • videos containing the song are not blocked on YouTube.
9I want to participate with a custom world
Official worlds from The Sims 2, The Sims 3, and The Sims 4 are eligible to participate, as well as certain custom TS3 worlds that have already participated or previously attempted to debut.
The participation of a new custom world may be discussed separately with the organizers.
However, worlds directly copying real-life locations or locations from films, books, games, and other media are prohibited.
10I want to create a character in one Sims game but represent a city from another
This is allowed. The character and the represented city may belong to different games within The Sims series.
11I want to participate with a performer fully copying the appearance, identity, or name of a real person
Such characters are not permitted.
Copying characters created by other users, as well as characters from films, games, books, or other existing works, is also prohibited. The contest is intended for original characters created by the participant.
12Can I change my song or participant during the preparation period?
Once the application has been approved, the participant cannot be changed.
Song replacements are only allowed in exceptional situations — for example, if the song suddenly becomes blocked or unavailable on YouTube.
13Can I expand my producer team during the preparation period?
The main team composition must be determined at the moment of application submission.
Additional people may assist as helpers or creators, but they are not officially recognized as full producers of the contest entry.
14Other users’ materials interfere with my character’s storyline
Storylines and personal character lore are not controlled by the contest organizers.
If another publication significantly affects your character’s lore, the organizers are willing to assist with communication and conflict resolution between creators, but they cannot guarantee that the content will be altered or removed.
