What is Simsovision?

Simsovision is an annual fan-made song contest created inside The Sims universe, inspired by the spirit of Eurovision, online music culture, machinima, and virtual performance art.

Since 2013, producers from different cities and game generations have competed by creating original music performances using The Sims 2, The Sims 3, The Sims 4, Blender, and other creative tools. Every entry represents a city chosen by its producer, forming a fictional international broadcast event with its own history, traditions, broadcasters, and audience.

Each season culminates in a large live final where viewers and juries determine the winner.

At its core, Simsovision is a mix of:

  • music video production
  • virtual cinematography
  • storytelling
  • character design
  • stage design
  • editing
  • live broadcasting
  • competitive music culture

A Contest Built by Producers

Participants of Simsovision are called producers.

A producer creates or manages a virtual artist, selects a song, develops the staging concept, films and edits the performance, and represents a city in the contest. Some projects are intimate and minimalistic, while others become full-scale productions involving custom animation, 3D environments, visual effects, motion capture, or original lore.

There are no strict technical requirements for participation. Over the years, the contest has welcomed both complete beginners and highly experienced creators.

The focus has always remained the same: creativity, atmosphere, music, and identity.

The World of Simsovision

Over time, Simsovision evolved far beyond a simple competition.

The contest developed its own fictional broadcasting ecosystem, recurring public figures, traditions, internal regulations, selection formats, visual identities, and historical moments. Cities from different Sims games coexist within one shared universe, each with their own aesthetics and fanbases.

Many producers stay in the community for years, building ongoing artist careers and narratives across multiple seasons.
